About jplehmann.comI've lived in Dallas, Texas all my life in a northern suburb called Richardson. To grow up, attend university, and find employment all in the same city is a bit unusual I guess, but things have worked out pretty well for me here. I enjoy living near my family and friends that I've known for so long. That's not to say I don't enjoy traveling and wouldn't enjoy living somewhere else as well. To put food on the table, I work as a Computer Scientist. I started out as a programmer, but now I'm more of an engineering manager. I work at a research company where we develop software to do Natural Language Processing. While many people had a hard time choosing a major in college and selecting a career, I have know this to be an area I enjoy for a long time. [more]. I enjoy doing all kinds of activities and hobbies, especially those involving the outdoors. I like to pick up a hobby and really focus on it for a while, before moving to the next. In fact, sometimes I have had to limit myself in the new hobbies that I pick up because it can get a little out of hand. Once in a period of six months, I transitioned between playing guitar, keyboard, ultimate fribsee, chess, and footbag. Probably wasn't very good at any of them, but at least I enjoyed it! [more]. But really, the most important thing to me is none of the above, but my relationship with Jesus Christ. For many years of my life I was actually quite a skeptic. But then through a series of events in my life, I began to seriously consider what life is about, and specifically weigh the claims of Christianity. What has occurred is a dramatic shift in the way that I view the world. First, I have become convinced of the importance of the metaphysical questions such as: What is the purpose of our life? How did we get here? and Where are we going? Second, I have come to believe that there are specific and compelling arguments and evidences that support the Christian worldview's answers to these questions. The purpose of this website is not just to talk about the mundane details of John Lehmann's life. I hope you enjoy those too (God help you). But what I am more interested in is talking about what life is really about. Can we really know? Do we have any reasons to believe that Christianity (or any religion for that matter) has any answers for an educated person of the 21st century? I don't claim to have all the answers by any means, but we live in a world of uncertainty where complex decisions must often be made without a complete knowledge of all the facts. One day, I plan to provide resources about these reasons and evidences that I have found so compelling in my own journey of seeking truth. My hope is that they will enable you to form a more educated opinion, one way or the other, about some of the biggest issues in life. [more]. |
